This year, we say goodbye to our caretaker and friend, Mr. Jones. Having worked in the school since 1982, he was always to be seen with a smile on his face. He truly was someone who took real care of the school, the teachers and especially the children of Mountview. Before he went, we took the chance to say farewell in true St. Philip’s style as his family joined us for a presentation that included work that the classes had prepared. After acrostic poems, the milestones of his life acted out in mini-drama, songs and messages of goodbye from pupils and staff past and present, the entire hall stood and paid tribute to our Welsh caretaker by singing his national anthem in Welsh. It was a fitting sendoff to someone who means an awful lot to us in St. Philip’s.
