NOTES FOR PARENTS
BT YOUNG SCIENTIST:
A trip to the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS has been arranged for pupils in 6th class on January 11th. The cost of this trip is €10, to include return coach and entry to the event. Places are limited to 27 pupils so, if interest exceeds that, names will be drawn from a hat.
ITB:
The Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown has invited 20 pupils to take part in their ‘Women in Technology’ programme in January. More details to follow.
CHRISTMAS CONSTRUCTION COMPETITION:
Our Christmas 3D construction competition is underway. The theme is a Christmas tree and we look forward to seeing more of the amazing creativity that these competitions always inspire. Feel free to pop in later next week to have a look at the entries.
ANTI-BULLYING WEEK:
Last week was anti-bullying week and 5th and 6th classes attended a workshop on cyber bullying. All 3rd classes received a booklet on internet safety. We encourage you to discuss these important issues with your children.
‘FRIENDS’ PROGRAMME:
The ‘Friends’ Resilience Building programme is now underway in Mrs. Halligan’s 4th class and will be delivered to the other 4th classes later in the year. The programme involves lots of family activities, which will benefit everyone.
SAFETY:
Please remember that, in the interest of your child’s safety, you should be vigilant about what he/she is watching on TV and accessing online.
MOBILE PHONES:
Mobile phones are not allowed in school. If there is an occasion when your child must have a phone with them it should be brought to the attention of the teacher and must be handed to the teacher in the morning and will be returned at home time.
SWIMMING LESSONS:
Swimming lessons for pupils in 3rd classes will begin on Tuesday, January 23rd. More information to follow.
CONGRATULATIONS:
Huge congrats to our school choir who raised the wonderful sum of €817 for the local branch of St. Vincent de Paul by carol singing in the Blanchardstown Centre on Monday. Thanks all the teachers who assisted with this great effort and in particular, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Keane and Mr. Campbell. Thanks also to the parents who came to support us and to Liam’s Bus Hire for generously donating a free bus to transport us to and from the Blanchardstown Centre.
THANK YOU!
The new benches are now in place on the school yard. They look lovely and are being put to great use by the pupils. Your support and donations to this project were much appreciated.
Thanks to all the parents who have been Garda vetted this term. We are hugely dependent on the support and involvement of parents to run school activities. If you would like to offer help or would like to find out more about becoming involved, please contact the school office.
Finally, I would like to thank all our parents and guardians for your support and cooperation during this school term and to wish you all a very pleasant and enjoyable Christmas and a happy New Year. Hope Santa is good to all!
Best wishes,
Paula Dargan
