Welcome back, everyone! I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and I would like to wish you all every blessing for 2018.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Wednesday, January 17th – Tin whistle lessons for 4th classes begin.
Friday, January 19th – Pupils will go home at 12 noon to facilitate teacher training.
Monday, January 22nd – Ukulele classes will resume for 3rd class pupils.
Tuesday, January 23rd – The parents’ ukulele class resumes in the parents’ room at 9 a.m. All welcome.
Tuesday, January 23rd – 6th class assessment test in Blakestown Community School. Pupils must be in Blakestown CS before 9 a.m. and will be finished at 1 p.m. Pupils should then return to school. A note has been sent home regarding this.
Tuesday, January 23rd – 3rd class swimming lessons begin. Lessons will run on Tuesdays, for 8 weeks.
Thursday, January 25th – Irish Dancing lessons for 4th class pupils begin. We are delighted to welcome back our dancing teacher, Germaine McDaid, who is a past pupil of the school.
Sunday, February 4th – The school choir will be singing at the PEACE PROMS in the RDS at 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 4th.
CONFIRMATION NOTICES
Confirmation will take place at 11 a.m. in St. Philip’s Church on Thursday, May 24th, 2018.
The Ceremony of Light will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17th, 2018.
Special Confirmation Masses: January 28th, February 11th & 25th, March 11th & 25th, April 15th, May 6th & 20th.
NOTES FOR PARENTS
Contact details: If you have recently changed your mobile number, please let the school know as soon as possible. Please also contact us if there have been any changes to the emergency contact numbers we have for your child.
Books: If you still have money outstanding for school books, please contact the school office to finalise payment.
3rd class parents: Please read the booklet which was given to your child today highlighting the importance of good attendance. It is essential to develop a good pattern of school attendance to ensure your child gets the best educational opportunity possible.
5th class parents: The ‘Right Click’ online safety programme is now underway. We would encourage parents to avail of the parents’ drop in advice slot, from 9.45 – 10.15 a.m., over the next three Tuesdays.
Garda Vetting: Many thanks to those parents who have applied for Garda vetting. We would welcome any more parents who would like to support us by undertaking vetting. Vivienne, in the office, will be happy to assist you with forms, etc.
School lunches: If you wish to change your child’s lunch, log onto www.glanmorefoods.ie.
REMINDERS
Jewellery: Jewellery, other than a watch, is not allowed in school. Smart watches and earrings are NOT allowed.
Mobile Phones: Mobile phones are strictly forbidden in the interest of all pupils’ safety.
School tracksuit: To be worn only on PE days and on days when children are involved in sporting activities.
